Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Drupal Version:
Why does this website deserve to win?:

The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) website demonstrates what an experienced web developer can accomplish using Drupal core as the foundation for stacking contributed and custom module 'building blocks' to create a great website.

Drupal's community and best practices inspired a well-structured and maintainable back-end, that includes a customized administrative user interface and workflow, API documentation for all custom code, release management, and coding and styles guidelines.

With a successful Drupal development, the designers and architects of the MSKCC website were able to focus on the site's information architecture and user experience without being restrained by a Content Management System.

What is a testament to Drupal is not that the MSKCC website was built with Drupal, but that Drupal allowed them to build a great website targeted for their audiences. Drupal simply empowered MSKCC to build a website that represents their quality and compassionate care and innovative research as the world's oldest cancer center.

The development of the new MSKCC website concluded with the sharing of the experience of working with Drupal and the contributing of new modules back to the Drupal community.

Below is a screencast that highlights how MSKCC.org is using Drupal.

The Big Blue House
I grew up in a big blue house. In the basement of this big blue house is where I learned how to build websites so it seem fitting to call my company, which I incorporated in 2000, 'The Big Blue House'.
